Lisset’s Photo Session Celebrating Joy in Motherhood and Sunset Light on the Shores of Oʻahu

We’re the structure of the whole place. We take it along and we do such a wonderful job.

- Lisset, mama of 3

There’s something radiant about Lisset.

She laughs easily and the way she speaks about motherhood is full of honesty, humor and hope. During her Empowered Mama session, she simply glowed. Part of that came from the setting—two sessions split between the soft light of the studio and the natural beauty of the beach. But even more came from Lisset herself: joyful, thoughtful, and steady in the kind of strength that builds over time.

“Oh, it was fun,” she said. “I enjoyed taking some time to change, dress up, make me look beautiful, do my hair, look different, and remember it.”

Pregnant with twin boys and raising a toddler, Lisset doesn’t often have the time to pause, let alone get dressed up. But she welcomed the chance to be in front of the camera, not just for herself, but to digitally freeze this moment in her life alongside her little family.

And while your family may not always love the idea of prepping for and showing up to take photos, we all know the truth—these are the images that last.

“Even though my husband and son don’t enjoy it as much, I know they will love these pictures for the rest of their lives when they look back.”

For Lisset, this session was about celebration as much as reflection.. “This is like once in a lifetime,” she said. “My mother-in-law is super excited. She said we made her dream come true—having a family with twins.”

When asked what “empowered mama” means to her, Lisset didn’t hesitate to describe just how much the word holds. “Empowered meaning, like, so many things. Like, you can do so much, even that you were not even knowing that you could. It’s possible. It’s so possible.”

She spoke about the sleepless nights, the multitasking, the effort it takes to care for yourself, your children, and your marriage all at once. “We’re the structure of the whole place,” she said. “We take it along and we do such a wonderful job. So, we’re on the right path.”

And even when life feels heavy – when faced with grief, change, exhaustion – Lisset carries a clear anchor: her deep faith. “But as long as you believe in what Jesus taught, God is the main guidance here to be able to get through.”

She knows that empowerment doesn’t come easy. It’s forged through motherhood from your trials, choices, and giving of that kind of love that asks everything of you. In Lisset’s words, that strength isn’t self-contained. It grows, evolves, and multiplies.“You push yourself. You find a lot of stuff that you’re not even aware of. So we have it within. You have to work through it to get to know that.”

These photos, she said, were about capturing something real… beauty, laughter, love, and joy. Whether barefoot in the sand beneath a sunset sky or seated with her family in glowing studio light, Lisset carried a kind of joy that felt unmistakably real. And while life as a mother of (soon-to-be) three rarely slowed down, Lisset made space to be seen. She embraced the moment, and in doing so, reminded all of us just how much power a mother carries.

It was clear in every frame.
