Deena came to the studio with the soft glow and eminence of new motherhood. Wanting to celebrate the last couple weeks before her baby boy made his appearance, she put together a couple outfits that honored her growing body. These along with the sets we put together, and most of all her gorgeous loving aura created the perfect scenario to capture her essence. The soft ambience of the backlit curtains, and the sweet wisp of white flowers in the foreground of the baby blue backdrop – these were just the canvas to highlight her beauty.

Deena’s Nuggets of Motherhood Wisdom
What has been your biggest lesson in Motherhood?
I think not giving a shit about anything else other than this little human being inside of me.
I think learning to put everything aside and take care of myself and be selfish for the first time in so long has been really eye opening and empowering. I was saying earlier how I feel more confident than I ever have before. Way more confident. I’ve had body issues in the past, and now that I’ve gained weight, I don’t even think twice about it. I love my pregnant body. I’ve never felt more confident.
What does being an empowered mama mean to you?
The word that comes to my mind is strong and enduring and positive. Positive all around. Positive in all aspects of her life. I think growing a human in you has brought that to me, personally, a new level of positivity. Even with all the worries that I have going on about the labor, the delivery, the aftercare, I try to put that outside and focus on now. Focus on how much my body is working right now and how much it’s creating, and how baby’s growing every single day. And it brings tears to my eyes, because it’s my body that’s doing this.
And then I was telling my friend, sometimes, in the beginning, I used to get down on myself. Like, why am I so tired all the time? And then she said, “You’re growing a human in you. You’re growing organs and body parts.” The fact that we can literally create another human and bring a baby into the world is a really, really incredible thing. Empowering. Yeah, empowering. It’s just incredible.
One piece of advice that you would share with other moms?
I would say, try to enjoy the process as much as possible. I know every woman has different symptoms, different stages of pregnancy that they go through, some harder than others, but I would say just try to take the positives and run with it, try to focus on the positives.
What was today like for you, being in front of the camera?
Empowering. It really was, you know, I’ve never seen myself like this, and the photos that you took were absolutely stunning, and I appreciate it so much. Yeah, it made me feel even more beautiful than I already feel. It made me feel like a goddess, almost. A mama. A Creator.
